Black Lives Matter Call to Action Guide
They say we should stop blaming the White man for the problems affecting the African-American community and we need to pick ourselves up by our own bootstraps. And we are. Many Pan-African and Black Nationalists are diligently working to strengthen the Black community through education, health initiatives, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship training. The old saying still holds true: Give a man a fish and he'll eat for one day, teach a man how to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime. Government assistance programs like food stamps and welfare can only go but so far before they become a crippling crutch for the poor and a burden to society. Building solidarity and independence within ourselves as a Pan-African nation is a part of the fight for our survival in this country. The Frederick Douglas Marcus Garvey Leadership Academy, brainchild of School Psychologist Dr. Umar Ifatunde is just one of the many mechanisms for stimulating socio-economic growth for the Black community. In due season, the school will be erected. Meanwhile, the fight must go on. There are millions of Black boys and men targeted every day by the police just for the color of their skin driven by negative stereotypes and propaganda. Going back to Africa is an option, but why should we be forced to?
