Tuesday morning snuck up on me like a thief in the night. I turned over and scrambled looking for my cell phone in my bed. My fingers crawled under my pillow and ran across my phone. I took it in the palm of my hand, then squinted my eyes to check the time. It was 8:59. That was enough to get me out of my bed.
I rushed to the bathroom, turned on the faucet, and began washing my face. I took a look in the mirror and concentrated on the reflection looking back at me. It was a familiar face but I felt like a different woman. I swung my head so my hair could rest on my left shoulder. Then I picked up my toothbrush. Cracking a wide smile, I leaned forward to come closer to the mirror and examined my teeth. I dreamed of my next visit to the dentist.
The tube of toothpaste finally made its way into my left hand. I squeezed a generous amount onto the bristles and drove my toothbrush to the back of my mouth to clean my molars; then I worked my way back to the front. I poured a cup full of listerine and swished it around inside my mouth while I hummed the lyrics to Drunk in Love.
After handling my business in the bathroom, I grabbed my laptop and logged on to check in with my Dom. But he had beat me to it.
"YOU'RE LATE"
"SORRY SIR"
"WHY ARE YOU LATE?"
"I WOKE UP LATE BECAUSE I DIDN'T SET MY ALARM"
"NO EXCUSES. YOU WILL GET PUNISHED."
Erggghh! Could my day get any worse?
I tossed my laptop on my bed, slid between my covers, and drifted off back to sleep.
