My two dogs raced to the door, barking relentlessly at the top of their lungs. I reached my front door, gasping for air then peeped through the hole. No one was there. I glanced at my cell phone. There was a missed call. Then a text message appeared.
OPEN THE DOOR.
I trembled then tiptoed away from my front door in the direction of my bedroom. A subtle knock sounded on my door again that sent me to my knees. Then another message popped up on my phone.
COME OUTSIDE.
I crawled back to the front door, grabbed the handle, and pulled myself up to my feet. When I peeked outside, no one was there. I released the chain lock on my front door, unlatched the deadbolt and gripped the handle. I peeled the door slightly open to feed my curiousity but found no one there. I took a deep breath, then slid through the crack in my door to take a look around. My driveway was empty. I pranced around to the side of my house, but still no one was there. When I made my way back around to my doorstep, there was a red colored box wrapped in a black ribbon sitting on my welcome mat.
What if it's a bomb? I wondered cautiously to myself. I leaned closer to get a better look and noticed there was a letter tucked underneath the ribbon.
"It's for you," I heard a voice say from over my shoulder.
